Shape Shifters Sculpture

Shape Shifters is an abstract sculpture created by British sculptor, Coral Lambert. The 8’x4’x4’ sculpture consists of three different pieces which insinuate to volcanoes, asteroids and standing stones. Lambert created and completed the sculptures in the duration 2005-2007.

Set on the Bartholomew County Courthouse grounds, the Shape Shifters are created for a peaceful resting place and tranquil reverie. The sculptures careen between archaeology, science fiction and astronomy. The sculptures are made of enameled cast iron, cast aluminum and steel and are formed by melting and casting the metals.

Coral Lambert is a very talented British sculptor who has worked extensively in Europe and America. She created the Shape Shifters through the Public Sculpture Invitational commissioned by the Columbus Area Arts Council. Speaking about the Shape Shifters Lambert says, “The work is imbued with a quality of growth and form, which can only be brought about through a unique collection between nature and artist.” A student of Central School of Art, London and Canterbury College of Art, Kent; Lambert has also done her MFA in Sculpture at Manchester Met University in 1990.
