
The Columbus East High School is a prestigious and renowned high school in Columbus. It is one of the two high schools in the city; the other being Columbus North High School. Established in the year 1972, the school building consists of three floors and its length is a quarter mile at its longest point. Around 1600 students learn in the Olympians, which is the nickname of the school.
Before both these schools were built, the Columbus High School stood in the place where today the Central stands. Built way back in 1859, the Central school was a public school till 1905. In 1905, the old Central school was demolished and a new building was constructed which became the Columbus High School. In 1972, the Columbus East High School was established seeing the demand of the rising population and the Columbus High School was renamed as the Columbus North High School.
The Columbus East is an esteemed school which comes under the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) organization. The school offers diverse academic courses to its students. The students excel in subjects like science and math. The school also has an excellent record in Fine Arts studies. The students also get a chance to specialize and pursue an internship in the career of their choices through the C-4 program. Also, one of the most distinguished features of the school is the development of year long senior project.
