Virgil I. Grissom Municipal Airport is one of the airports that connect you to Columbus - Indiana via air. It is situated in the city Bedford of Lawrence County in Indiana. Located 6 kms, (3 miles) southeast from the heart of the city Bedford, this airport was named after Virgil I. Grissom, who was a USA air force pilot and one of the NASA astronauts who played a major role in the Project Mercury held by NASA.

This airport is spread over an area of 145 acres and is 222 meters (728 feet) above the mean sea level. It has two asphalt runways in a good condition having proper markings. At the rate of 14 flights per day, this airport registers 5,110 flights yearly. Apart from general aviation use, this airport is also used for military landings. Majority of the aircrafts here are single engine, only 3% of it being multi engine.

This airport is in operation since 1st of March 1942. It is owned by Lawrence County Boac and is open to public. It works all 7 days a week and is closed only on Christmas. Apart from flights there are other services available here like; Air Ambulance, Cargo Handling, Air Freight, Avionics, Charter, Aircraft Rental Charter, Flight Instruction etc. There is a wind indicator at the airport too.
